Streets as Shared Spaces – Kingswood

Council is enhancing the heart of Kingswood through the NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s Streets as Shared Spaces program. The program funds Councils to deliver temporary projects to support the community and test ideas for more permanent improvements to local streets, paths and public spaces.

From May to June 2022, Council is enhancing the amenities and village vibrancy around the core areas of Kingswood, including Wainwright Park and the Kingswood Neighbour Centre.

The improvements include new seating, shade structures, trees, garden pods and the temporary installation of a Kingswood Container Kitchen in Wainwright Park for local not-for-profit community organisations to trial for free.

The project also includes ‘Meet me in the Park’, a series of pop-up activations and activities for the community held in Wainwright Park and Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre on Saturday 30 July and Saturday 27 August. Meet me in the Park provides the community with a safe place to connect, reflect and create.

Council looks forward to these temporary improvements assisting the community to safely connect, gather and play while also strengthening the accessibility and economic vitality of Kingswood’s high street and surrounding area.

Work will be further enhanced and complemented by the DPE funded program, Your High Street, delivering permanent enhancements to the eastern side of Bringelly Road, Kingswood.
