Accessibility Statement

Penrith City Council is committed to making this website as accessible as possible for all our visitors, including people using our site with:

  • assistive technologies such as screen readers
  • mobile devices
  • various browsers and
  • slower internet connections.

We are striving to make our website comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 (to at least Level AA), in line with the Australian Government's National Transition Strategy. Compliance with this standard has been achieved through practical implementation during the design and development of the website, user testing and ongoing updates and maintenance.

Ensuring access for all users is important to Penrith City Council. If you are having trouble accessing any information or service on this site, please contact us so that we can help provide you with what you are looking for in an alternative format, and so we can try to fix the issue for the future: email  or phone 4732 7777.

Exceptions

Some pages on our website include embedded media such as Google Maps, YouTube videos and slideshows. The accessibility of these media cannot be guaranteed, however an accessible alternative is always made available where possible.

From time to time we use third party providers for activities such as email marketing. For example, we use MailChimp to distribute email newsletters which can be subscribed to within our website. This has been chosen specifically because, according to our assessments, it is currently the most accessible email marketing platform. However, there are some minor issues with this platform, over which we have no control. While we cannot take responsibility for the accessibility of third party products, we will always endeavour to make them as accessible as possible before use. We seek to work with third party providers to encourage changes that will improve the accessibility of their products.
