Holiday at home this Easter

Some hints and tips to help you enjoy Easter at home this year.

This Easter is like no other we have experienced. Unlike other holidays where we pack up the car, the caravan and boat to go to our favourite destinations we need to stay at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19. That also applies to unnecessary travel – stay home!

Do the right thing this Easter, it is everyone’s responsibility to follow social distancing guidelines as directed by the NSW Government. Have this holiday apart, so we can stop the spread together. If you wish to report any concerns regarding non-compliance of the Public Health Order, contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.

Need ideas on what to do at home?

  • Go camping in your backyard.
  • Complete a puzzle: The more pieces the better! More of a word person? Crossword puzzle!
  • If it won't bother your neighbors: Dust off that old instrument and practice.
  • Meditate. Try lying down with your eyes closed, palms up while focusing on your breath. Or spend 20 minutes sitting crosslegged and repeat a soothing word to yourself in your head.
  • Look at pictures of puppies or kittens.
  • Learn calligraphy. YouTube can help.
  • Put on a soap opera. Mute the sound. Create your own dialogue. Or if you’re sports fans, commentate re-runs of your favourite games.
  • Have a space in your home where all of the tupperware goes? Organise it and actually match lids to containers…. Or not.
  • Use Skype, FaceTime, or other social tools to video chat with your socially-distant friends.
  • Try out at-home aerobics or yoga videos. Consider downloading a fitness app with curated workout playlists.
  • Coloring books: They’re not just for kids.
  • Buy gift cards from your favorite local businesses to help keep them in business while we quarantine.
  • Talk to your plants. How are they doing? Make sure they are getting the amount of sunlight they should be. Check their soil. Water if necessary.
  • Indoor scavenger hunt.
  • Learn origami. Make cranes for your loved ones.
  • Grab that favourite recipe and cook up a storm.
  • Binge watch your favourite TV series you haven’t had time for.
  • Pull out the board games from the cupboard that have been sitting there for years.
  • Rearrange your furniture to make it seem like your home is a totally different space.
  • Sleep. Get lots of it.
