Habitat Restoration – Weed Blitz: Londonderry Woodland Reserve (June)
Join our Bushcare volunteers and Conservation Volunteers Australia for a great day of bush regeneration activities.
We’re joining Conservation Volunteers Australia and conducting essential weed maintenance to improve the reserve. We'll be doing a variety of bush regeneration activities such as weed removal, monitoring translocated endangered plants, flora and fauna surveys, habitat improvements, and bird watching.
On-site training, tools, and light refreshments will be provided.
It’s advised participants wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and closed sturdy shoes. We'd also recommend bringing a hat and sunscreen and a bottle of water.
The event is open to everyone with and without Bushcare experience. Under 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.
Bookings are essential. Register your place at Eventbrite.
About Londonderry Woodland Reserve
Londonderry Woodland Reserve is a vital remnant of the critically endangered Cumberland Plain Woodland.
It's one of the last remaining examples of mature grassy woodland vegetation on the Cumberland Plain, with grand old trees providing habitat for local wildlife and a diverse understorey of rare herbs, orchids and grasses.
Rickabys Creek also runs through the reserve which provides a migration corridor for wildlife and connects other patches of Cumberland Plain Woodland from the north-east to its termination at the Wianamatta Nature Reserve in the south-east.
About the Habitat Restoration program
The Habitat Restoration event program is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its Environmental Trust. Penrith City Council is proud to partner with Conservation Volunteers Australia.
