Greening our City: North St Marys and Oxley Park tree planting information day

We’re planting trees in North St Marys and Oxley Park as part of our Cooling the City Strategy. Join us for a great morning of activities and learn more about the benefits of cooling our streets.

As of Thursday 6 October, we have rescheduled the pop-up engagement day to Saturday 15 October due to the wet weather forecast. We hope to see you there!

We're inviting residents and visitors to come down and talk to us about the tree planting project. This is a great opportunity to learn more about why we're planting trees in these two suburbs and to ask any questions you may have.

We’ll also be hosting a free tree giveaway for planting on private property and a face painter for the kids.. A coffee cart will be on site offering free hot beverages.

Why North St Marys and Oxley Park?

Council conducted research to identify suburbs in the Penrith LGA that had fewer trees, leaving them exposed to higher temperatures than the suburbs with more vegetation. North St Marys and Oxley Park were identified as being one of these suburbs.

What are some of the benefits of planting trees in this area?

  • Planting trees provides necessary shade that may help cool streets, parks and shared spaces.
  • May increase local property values
  • Creates beautiful and vibrant areas that can boost wellbeing

If you are unwell, please stay at home. You can find out more about the project at Your Say Penrith.
