Free Microchipping Day

Does your cat or dog need to be microchipped? Bring them down to see our Animal Services team on Saturday 28 September at Jamison Park between 9am and 12pm for your pet to be microchipped for free.

Free microchipping is available for cats and dogs on Sunday 28 September between 9am and 12pm at Jamison Park. Council’s Animal Services will be joined by Greencross Vets – Coreen Ave to chip your pet and answer any questions you may have.

Why microchip?
Microchipping your pet helps keep them safe. It’s a vital part of their care that you chip them so that if they ever wander away, vets, animal shelters and Animal Services can scan their chip and reunite them with their family.

The procedure is simple and quick, and involves a small chip the size of a rice grain being implanted in the back of the neck above the shoulder blade.

In NSW, all cats and dogs must be microchipped by 12 weeks old and be lifetime registered by 6 months of age.

For more information about microchipping and lifetime registration, visit our Microchipping and Registration page.

For the day
Please ensure your dog is on a lead and your cat is in a carrier for safety purposes.
