Earth Hour
Switch off your lights for an hour in solidarity with Council and thousands of others across the country to support this sustainable initiative.
Earth Hour is a global movement that encourages us to not only turn off our lights but to reflect over what we can do to help protect our planet.
There are several sustainable things you can do outside of this hour to help reduce emissions and encourage the growth of environmental initiatives across the City and state:
- Register and attend tree planting events to see green cover increase for the next generation.
- Participate in river cleanups.
- Start switching off appliances and lights when you’re not using them to help conserve energy.
- Reduce the amount of plastic you use (we’ve partnered with RecycleSmart to help you recycle your soft plastics and divert them from going into landfill).
