Breakfast with the Birds at Mountain View Reserve

We’re learning about the birds who call Mountain View Reserve home with a guided walk and talk.

We’re excited to be hosting our fifth Breakfast with the Birds with Mark Fuller from Avianation returning to lead us in a guided walk and talk! Mark will be sharing his tips and tricks on how to listen and sight birds in the reserve, and how you can identify which species it is.

As part of the event, we have recorded 62 different birds (with an overwhelming being native – 55 verse 7 introduced species, which is great!) — and we hope to see this increase with your help!

After our bird watching, we’ll be weeding the reserve to help conserve the birds’ natural habitat and to protect the flora from invasive weeds.

What can I expect?

  • You'll be given a picture identification guide which shows the common birds
  • Binoculars will be available for the first 12 people.
  • You’ll be provided with tools, training, and guidance on how to weed. No experience is required!
  • A yummy breakfast, tea and coffee.

What do I need to wear and bring?

  • Wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt, sturdy closed-in shoes, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
  • Bring a bottle of water.
  • A camera to snap pictures of the birds!
  • Binoculars if you have some (but not necessary).

The event is open to everyone with and without Bushcare experience. Children must be supervised by an adult. Spots are limited so bookings are essential.

This event is proudly brought to you by our Bushcare and Natural Systems teams.
