Penrith Sector Connect

Sector Connect Program

The Community Resilience team, through Community Capacity and Community Safety, works with community organisations and services to resource, plan, skill up, advocate and deliver projects that improve the well-being of residents.

Sector Connect aims to build the social capital of the community services sector, keep them connected to local issues, explore ideas as a collective, and shape the local narrative.

Our aspiration is to be the most connected, interactive and coordination sector in the West!

Focus areas:

  1. Connection and collaboration – building the bridging capital of community organisations, creating collective agendas and advocacy platforms
  2. Training and development – provide formal capacity-building opportunities
  3. Information, advice and referrals – provide a recognised and valuable sector newsletter, and tailored resources for community and the sector
  4. Advocacy – utilise the expertise, credibility and power of collective advocacy to address rising and persistent challenges for the community
  5. Organisation listening and credibility – an opportunity to understand in real time the sector pressures and whether Council’s projects and programs are working - truth testing
  6. Evaluation – consistent and structured collection of feedback that can be benchmarked and shared with the sector yearly.

In practical terms the Sector Connect program offers:
