Penrith City Council together with the Penrith Multicultural Interagency will host a Harmony Day event on Wednesday 21 March at the Mondo greenspace (located between Westfield Penrith and The Joan).

Council staff and members of the Penrith Multicultural Interagency will lead a short walk around Westfield Penrith starting from the Mondo, as a show of inclusiveness, community and friendship.

The walk will commence at 12:30pm and once completed will be followed by a light lunch and entertainment back at the Mondo.

Penrith Mayor Cr John Thain would like to see the community get involved by gathering at the Mondo for the Harmony Day event.

"Our community is strengthened through our diversity. We have so many wonderful events, groups and initiatives that contribute to our City and enhance our daily life," Cr Thain said.

"Penrith is a vibrant community because of our many identities and Harmony Day is an opportunity to celebrate this diversity."

Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity - a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home.  The Day is a national initiative, which coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Orange is the colour of Harmony Day, as it represents meaningful conversation, freedom of ideas and mutual respect. We encourage everyone to put on something orange and head to the Mondo for a wonderful afternoon of celebration.

The event and walk is inclusive and accessible.
