Five more playspaces upgraded across Penrith

Tuesday, 11 January 2022

Penrith City Council has upgraded a further five playspaces across the City as part of its commitment to provide quality playspaces for the community.

Burcher Park, Robinson Park, Leonay Parade Reserve, Sunbird Terrace and Oriole Street playspaces have all been renewed with new play equipment, surface upgrades, additional seating, shade sails, tree planting and landscaping.

Council is upgrading 40 playspaces over a five-year period between 2019-2024. Six playspaces were completed last year including Outlook Avenue, Sales Park, Bunyarra Reserve, The Carriageway, Ironbark Reserve and Brian King Park.

New shade sails and trees have also been installed at 64 playspaces across the City as part of Council’s Cooling the City Strategy.

The shade sails are designed to meet Australian Standards, provide specified UV block out ratings between 97-99%, minimise heat and allow appropriate airflow.

These projects form part of Council’s Sport and Recreation Strategy to ensure current and future residents can live active and healthy lives with increased access to sport and recreation facilities.
