Calling for groups to submit to Community Panel

Thursday, 6 August 2015

Council is inviting groups across the City to make submissions to the Community Panel on what local services and infrastructure is needed in Penrith.

Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said Council is undertaking an exciting and innovative new direction in deliberative democracy with the formation of the Community Panel to help shape the City's future.

About 35 Penrith residents from all walks of life will form the Panel.

"Now is the time for community groups to get involved in this bold new approach," Councillor Fowler said.

"Council strongly encourages community groups to give their submissions to the Community Panel to consider in their deliberations about the way forward for Penrith.

"The Panel members are the community. They are your neighbours. They have jobs, leisure pursuits and families similar to the rest of us and they will recommend ways to put us in the best position for the Council and community to move into our shared bold future."

Council is hosting a briefing session for local community groups about making a submission to the Community Panel.

Two information sessions are being held at The Civic Centre (601 High Street, Penrith) on Thursday 13th August to explain in more detail how the process works and to answer questions.

  • Session 1: 4:00pm for 4:30pm start - 5:30pm
  • Session 2: 6:30pm for 7:00pm start - 8:00pm

Community groups wanting more information can contact Tanya Jackson at Council  or Iain Walker from newDemocracy at .
