Due to a significant funding shortfall, together with rising construction costs and technical and delivery challenges, a project to upgrade intersections at Coreen Avenue cannot proceed as planned.

Council explored every available option to deliver the project. Despite this work, it was determined that the current project could not be delivered within the available funding and constraints.

Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said Penrith City Council remains committed to improving road infrastructure in the area and planning completed to date, would assist future funding applications.

“While the Coreen Avenue intersection upgrades cannot proceed as planned, the completed detailed design work for the four intersections will be retained to support future funding applications and delivery should additional funding become available,” Cr Carney said.

Council would like to thank everyone who participated in the consultation for this project. Feedback from residents, businesses and landowners helped shape the detailed designs and will continue to inform future planning and projects.
