Penrith City Council has completed a series of upgrades across Boronia Park, North St Marys, improving sporting and recreational facilities for the community.

Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the widespread upgrades will cater to a range of sporting needs in the community.

“Council’s upgrades at Boronia Park will benefit local athletes with improvements to the cricket, rugby league and netball facilities as well as for dog owners and their pets with the recent upgrades at North St Marys Dog Park,” Cr Carney said.

“Council is committed to helping the community lead active and healthy lifestyles - the upgrades at Boronia Park are crucial in making that happen.”

Improvements at Boronia Park include a new cricket amenity building, as well as an upgrade to the two-lane cricket practice facility. The cricket practice facility upgrade was co-funded by Penrith City Council and Cricket NSW through the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund.

Cricket NSW CEO, Lee Germon, said Boronia Park was a wonderful facility for the people of Penrith and St Marys.

“We are delighted to see that this project has been completed, with the cricket practice facility providing an opportunity for more people to play and love cricket,” Germon said.

“This is another fantastic example of Cricket NSW being able to successfully collaborate with local government and we thank Penrith City Council for their support and efforts.”

Local rugby league teams will benefit from the improvements to the amenities building alongside enhanced irrigation systems on rugby league fields 3-5 and upgraded LED floodlighting for all rugby league fields. Additionally, LED floodlighting has been implemented across all netball courts.

The upgrades to Boronia Park, North St Marys were funded by Penrith City Council and identified through the Sport and Recreation Strategy which is a 15-year road map for the future provision of sport, play, recreation and open space across our City.
