Penrith City Council is holding a free Volunteer Expo on Wednesday 25 September from 10am-1pm in the Mondo Community Space outside the Penrith Civic Centre to celebrate local volunteering organisations.

Everyone is invited to come along and learn more about volunteering and its benefits, and enjoy the interactive activities the organisations will be hosting on the day.

Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said the Penrith Volunteer Expo is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the diversity of local roles available in the community with a range of organisations.

“Our local organisations and groups provide great services for our community,” Cr Fowler said.

“This is a great opportunity for people who are interested in volunteering or who have volunteered and want to get back into it to come along and see the great diversity of roles that are available in Penrith.”

“Volunteering is a great way to give back, bring people together, and to develop as an individual. Penrith City Council is proud to host this Expo to give these organisations and groups the opportunity to showcase the brilliant work they do,” he said.

Volunteering plays a vital role in the development of social cohesion and connection, both of which help alleviate loneliness. It provides a pathway to employment through the development of skills, networks and values which are sought after in professional environments.

In the case of wet weather, the Expo will be held at the Penrith Library Theatrette.
