Destination NSW has awarded Penrith's annual Real Festival $20,000 in funding to enhance the marketing and promotion of the event in 2018.

Penrith Council secured the Flagship Event Fund grant after a competitive application and selection process under Destination NSW's Flagship Event Fund Program.

Penrith Mayor John Thain welcomed the announcement.

"We've always known Real Festival has the potential to become an iconic event for the region and this funding demonstrates that Destination NSW not only shares our confidence but is also committed to investing in its success," Cr Thain said.

"We're looking forward to sharing Real Festival with an even wider audience this year and giving more people the opportunity to experience our world-class program of entertainment, activities and experiences from 2-3 November."
