Penrith City Council has partnered with the Panthers Premier League Netball franchise in their inaugural season of the Netball NSW Premier League competition (NNSWPL).

The NNSWPL is a new netball competition to attract the best current and emerging talent within NSW.  Its purpose is to offer a local, elite platform for players, coaches, officials and administrators, and provide bridging opportunities in to the Australian Netball League (ANL) and subsequent ANZ Championship.

Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown said this is a great opportunity for the junior players in the Penrith area.

"This competition creates a new pathway for the junior elite players of the area and showcases the talent of Penrith, the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury regions," Cr McKeown said.

"Penrith is known for its elite athletes in many sporting fields and netball is no exception. The Panthers Premier League Open team Captain, Paige Hadley, is an Australian representative and played her junior years with Penrith District Netball Association".

"Penrith City Council is proud to partner with the Panthers franchise and wishes them the very best for the season ahead, we will be cheering on every step of the way."

The NNSWPL will be contested across two Divisions - Opens and Under 20s - with a Pre-Season tournament scheduled from 2 March through 23 March 2016, followed by the commencement of the 14-week regular season beginning 18 April 2016.  The Finals Series will be contested over three weeks, with the Grand Final currently penned for week commencing 22 August 2016.
