Following on from two successful Open Mic Nights held in Penrith’s Triangle Park, an evening of outdoor music and performance is now slated for St Marys.

Held in Coachmans Park on Thursday 19 September, the evening will feature local emerging and established talent. We encourage singers, musicians and entertainers to step up and book a timeslot.

Members of the community are invited to come out and support our local artists. Audience members can enjoy delicious café-style offerings from Cassandra’s On the Park and hot fresh doughnut balls from Mr Puff, plus browse the pop-up record store between acts.

Since the release of a new Street Performers Policy in 2018, Penrith City Council has held a series of events to encourage a vibrant arts scene in our city.
Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said an Open Mic Night in St Marys is the natural next step in nurturing a lively music and street performance landscape.

“By supporting a culture of street performance and busking, Penrith is following in the footsteps of renowned creative cities like Barcelona and Edinburgh,” said Cr Fowler.

“Events like the upcoming Open Mic Night in St Marys not only serve to enrich the feel of our city, they also utilise public spaces which would otherwise be underappreciated.”
“Another tangible benefit of the Open Mic Night series is that it provides local talent an opportunity to develop their act, and puts them in front of an audience so they can grow their following.”

“Whether you are an up-and-coming artist wanting to gain experience on stage, or a more established artist looking to blow off the cobwebs and get back out there, we encourage you to book a timeslot,” Cr Fowler concluded.

Are you a singer, musician or entertainer?
Or perhaps you have a friend or family member with hidden talent? Musicians, singers, artists and buskers are invited to entertain the community at Open Mic Night in Coachmans Park.

People wanting to perform need to pre-register for a timeslot using the contact details below. On the night you can apply for a busker’s permit, which costs $20 and entitles you to perform in a range of approved spaces in the Penrith and St Marys CBDs.
