Penrith City Council and the NAIDOC planning committee is proud to once again host a fun an inclusive day of celebrations at Jamison Park on Friday 13 July to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

From 9.30am and 3pm there will be fun activities for kids of all ages, mixed netball, a free BBQ, performances and more.

Penrith Mayor Cr John Thain invited everyone to join the celebrations at Jamison Park.

"NAIDOC Week is an event everyone can and should get involved with," Cr Thain said.

"It's a wonderful day at Jamison Park, and an opportunity for the whole community to learn about and celebrate our Indigenous heritage, and the contribution Penrith's Aboriginal people make in our community and City.

"Penrith has one of the biggest NAIDOC celebrations in NSW, which is something I'm very proud of," Cr Thain continued.

"The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are the oldest continuing cultures on our planet, and they have a unique and important role in our community and our identity as Australians," he said.

NAIDOC Week is a national initiative that is held every July, and this year's theme is 'Because of her, we can!'. Celebrations will focus on the invaluable contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made - and continue to make - to our communities, our families, our rich history and to our nation.
