Penrith recognised as industry leaders

Two members of Council’s Property Development team are among the representatives appointed to NSW’s Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) committees for 2020.
Melina Da Prato, Project Officer for Penrith City Council, has been appointed to the UDIA NSW Young Leaders Committee for 2020. The committee develops future leaders of the industry and will this year focus on thought leadership on changing city designs and showcase international examples of best practice.
Nathan Ritchie, Manager Property Development at Penrith City Council, was re-appointed to the Employment Lands Committee; a position he has held since January 2019. The committee exists to supports the development of employment lands and increase the supply of employment lands in Sydney.
Nathan is pleased that through their representation, Penrith City Council will be able to “contribute to the policy and advocacy agenda to create a more effective operating environment for the development industry”.
In another sign of the high calibre of Council’s Property Development team, Erin Higgins, Development Manager, has been selected to participate in UDIA NSW Legends and Legacy program in 2020. Candidates were selected based on their leadership aspirations, a commitment to learning and to the promotion of the property development industry. On her appointment, Nathan Ritchie commented “I know that Erin will benefit greatly from the experience, foster new productive relationships and will continue to grow her leaderships skills to future proof our organisation and our Industry”.
UDIA NSW is the state’s leading development industry body which seeks to promote high standards, responsible development, and better planning for urban development.
In addition to its policy and advocacy work, UDIA NSW are delivering an industry briefing in Penrith on the 25th February. The event; Managing Drought – The Future of Water, will hear from expert guest speakers who will generate a discussion on the need to build a more water sensitive and resilient industry.
