Penrith Mayor welcomes road funding

Penrith City Council welcomes the much-needed funding announced by the Australian Government for investment into Western Sydney roads and transport.

Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the funding is a big win for the people of Western Sydney.

“I echo the sentiment of the NSW Deputy Premier Prue Car, this is indeed a game changer for Western Sydney and in particular the people of Penrith,” Cr Carney said.

“I want to the thank the Australian Government for working with the NSW Government to bring these projects to life and easing the burden that our roads in Western Sydney are being put under.

“Funding vital transport links like Mulgoa and Mamre Roads means our city will be better equipped to deal with the opening of Western Sydney International Airport. It will ease congestion as our city grows through future housing and will give a better quality of life for people living close to their work.

“Not only are projects being funded in this announcement, but we are also seeing funding for coordinated planning which is welcomed. The Western Sydney Roads Future Planning and Western Sydney Freight

Line are integral projects that will play their role in the transport of good and services, and allowing the residents of Western Sydney to move around uninhibited.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Australian Government on how Penrith City Council can aid the rollout of the projects and ensuring their success.”
