Real Festival, Penrith’s most awaited returning event, kicked off its grand celebration yesterday, drawing large crowds eager to immerse themselves in a world of art, culture, and community.

The festival's opening day saw an overwhelming response from attendees who flocked to experience the stunning illuminated art displays and activities, the colourful live music and performances program, and the mouthwatering array of food trucks.

The festival grounds came alive with the buzz of excitement as families, friends, and art enthusiasts gathered to partake in the festivities. The welcoming atmosphere and the diverse range of activities ensured that there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Illuminart Awes and Inspires: One of the standout attractions of the opening day was the Illuminart headliner, part art-part performance - the Nepean River was transformed into a breathtaking wonderland of colour, using light, sound and storytelling.

Attendees were captivated by the Nepean Belle stealing the show, starring in the animated artwork by No boundaries Art Group.

Live Music and Performances Program: Real Festival's commitment to showcasing local talent was on full display with a stellar live music and performance program. From energetic live bands to mesmerizing choreography and stunt groups, the stage was a constant hub of entertainment and creativity. The diverse lineup catered to various tastes, ensuring that attendees were treated to a memorable musical and artistic journey.

Food Truck Feast: Festival-goers indulged in a culinary adventure with a wide variety of food trucks offering delectable dishes from around the world. From gourmet burgers and mouthwatering tacos to artisanal desserts and refreshing beverages, the festival's food offerings were a gastronomic delight. The food trucks added to the vibrant atmosphere, providing a perfect blend of flavours to complement the festival experience.

Penrith Mayor Tricia Hitchen expressed her gratitude to the community for their overwhelming support on the opening day.

"We are thrilled to see such a fantastic turnout for the first day of Real Festival. The incredible response from the community and those travelling from farther afield is a testament to the festival's importance in bringing people together and celebrating our vibrant culture,” Cr Hitchen said.

“We're excited to continue delivering an outstanding program over the remaining days of the festival.”

Real Festival is set to continue its celebration of arts, culture, and community over the coming days, with more illuminating art displays, sensational performances, and tantalising food options in store for attendees. As the festival continues to unfold, organisers are expecting continued large crowds and recommend public transport as the first option for travel.
