What time is Cables Wake Park open on Australia Day?

Cables Wake Park is open from 9.30am on Australia Day until 5pm.

What are the age limits for on-water activities?

Guests must be 10 years or older for wakeboarding and 6 years or older for the Aqua Park.

Do I need to bring a lifejacket or any equipment with me?

No, everything you need to get on the water is supplied.

Do I need to bring my ticket with me?

Yes. You need to print your ticket and bring it with you on the day. You also need to print the waiver form, sign it and bring it with you on the day.

Do I have to be able to swim to wake board and use the Aqua Park?

Yes. All Participants must be able to swim without any flotation devices for all water activities.

How early do I have to arrive before my on-water activity?

Please arrive 30 mins before your on-water activity. This allows time for registration and a safety briefing.

Can I swim at Cables Wake Park?

There is no swimming at Cables Wake Park. The only people who can access the water are those who have registered for wakeboarding or the Aqua Park sessions.

Can I bring food into Cables Wake Park?

Yes! You can pack a picnic and bring food along to the event although Cables Wake Park request that no commercial food (takeaway food), alcohol or glass is brought into the park. BBQ facilities will not be available at the event.

Can I bring alcohol to or drink alcohol at Cables Wake Park?

Alcohol and illicit drugs are not permitted to be brought into the venue. Security has the right to conduct bag and pram checks as required. Intoxicated persons will be refused entry. No glass will be permitted.

What can’t be brought into Cables Wake Park?

In addition to alcohol, drugs and glass there are also no pets, skateboards, rollerblades or bikes are allowed into the event at Cables Wake Park.

Can I bring my own chairs and pop-up shelters to Cables Wake Park?

If you feel like bringing your own chairs and picnic blankets please feel free to do so. No pop-up shelters or marquees are permitted for safety reasons. 

Are lifeguards on duty at the Australia Day event?

Yes, there are lifeguards on duty. Cables Wake Park has one lifeguard per 25 people in the water. Penrith City Council also has aquatic rescue staff working at the event throughout the day.

What supervision is required for children at the Australia Day event?

All children must be supervised by a parent or carer at all times. Cables Wake Park and Penrith City Council will take all reasonable duty of care but will not accept the responsibility for the supervision and wellbeing of a minor.

How many people are allowed in the water at any one time?

There are 200 people permitted in the Aqua Park per hour, and 60 people permitted for wake boarding per hour.

Can I join my child in the Aqua Park if I haven’t registered for a session?

No, adults and carers must register for a session to be permitted to go in the water or on the inflatable equipment in the Aqua Park.

Where can I park my car on Australia Day?

There is limited parking in the Cables Wake Park carpark, and surrounding streets. Once these areas are full, we suggest you park near Jamison Park where a free shuttle bus service will operate from Batt Street near the Netball Courts. The shuttle service will operate from 9am until 6pm on a continuous loop.

What happens if it rains on Australia Day?

Lighting or thunderstorms will cause the event to be cancelled, make sure you’re connected with Penrith City Council on Facebook to get all the up-to-date information about the event. Please note if the event is cancelled, it won’t be rescheduled.

What happens if it’s windy on Australia Day?

Wind can be an issue for on-water activities. If it’s a windy day, the event may need to be cancelled due to safety reasons. Make sure you’re connected with Penrith City Council on Facebook to get all the up-to-date information about the event. Please note if the event is cancelled, it won’t be rescheduled.

Are there any ATM facilities at Cables Wake Park on Australia Day?

No there are no ATM facilities at Cables. The closest ATM facilities are next door at Penrith Panthers. Eftpos and credit cards will be accepted at Cables Wake Park cafe and at the mobile food vendors.

What happens to lost property?

Lost property can be taken to Cables Wake Park Cafe. Items will be returned to their owners who are able to correctly identify the items.
