Good Neighbour Program

The neighbourhood is making a comeback!

The world is busier than ever and people can feel disconnected from each other, but we believe it’s time for the local neighbourhood to make a comeback. And that’s why Penrith Council has launched Good Neighbour.

What is Good Neighbour?

It can be hard to get to know your neighbours, and sometimes you don’t even know where to start. We want to help make that easier. Good Neighbour is a small way we can help you build connections with your neighbours and make new friendships along the way. As part of Good Neighbour, we can provide advice, guidance, support and even supplies, so you can hold an event for your neighbours. It can be anything you want – a small get together in the front yard, a street party or an epic shindig at the local park, it’s up to you! With Good Neighbour you’ll have access to invitation templates, a guide to help you plan and free hire of an event kit including giant games.

Who can use Good Neighbour?

Good Neighbour is available to everyone in the Penrith LGA. All you need to do is fill in a short form, and then we will help you throw a neighbourhood get-together. We want to ensure people right across Penrith get a chance to host an event, so sometimes you may have to wait until the event kit becomes available again, but we’ll let you know if that happens.

Applications for Good Neighbour will be available in early April.

Why is Council providing the Good Neighbour program?

Good relationships can transform communities and knowing our neighbours is important. It makes our neighbourhood safer and also makes us feel better because social connections help prevent loneliness, isolation and depression.
