First glimpse of Aerotropolis precincts

The Aerotropolis has reached the next stage of planning with the release of the draft plans for a number of precincts surrounding the future Western Sydney International Airport.

Expected to deliver 200,000 new jobs in the Western Parkland City, the Aerotropolis will be a hub of innovation with a focus on liveability and connectivity.

Precinct plans have been released to the public for Northern Gateway, Badgerys Creek, Agribusiness, Wianamatta-South Creek and Aerotropolis Core precincts. Each plan establishes the strategic vision and proposed land uses for the precinct, providing a picture of the intended outcomes through to 2056.

The Northern Gateway precinct plan points to a specialised centre around the future metro station which will focus on employment. Additionally, the precinct is proposed to include mixed use areas supporting the strategic centre, larger scale employment areas that can accommodate larger block sizes, as well as the retention of open space and woodland.

The Agribusiness precinct is expected to produce high-quality fresh produce and pre-prepared consumer foods, building on the existing agricultural history of the area. According to the plan, the Agribusiness precinct will accommodate over 5,000 jobs by 2036.

The Badgerys Creek precinct is entirely employment focused. The precinct will comprise logistics, commercial industry, high technology industry and associated employment uses.

The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment is seeking feedback from the community and other stakeholders on the precinct plans. Submissions are open now and will close on 18 December 2020.
