The 5-storey health facility will have capacity for 90 beds and be serviced by over 50 staff at any one time. The sub-acute hospital will include a mental health unit and an inpatient rehabilitation unit; serviced by consultation rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and physiotherapy gym. Ancillary services such as a hairdressing room and a café will also be included.

Architectural plans include the construction of a 65-space basement carpark onsite; with separate access provided for ambulances.

The Orth Street site in Kingswood is adjacent to Nepean Hospital, which is currently undergoing a $1 billion redevelopment. Work continues at the hospital on the construction of a new 14-storey hospital tower, due for completion in 2021.

The continued improvements to health facilities point to the strength of The Quarter; Penrith’s Health and Education Precinct, which is set to become an international destination for further health care innovation, research, and technology.
