Council wins NSW Award for Planning Excellence for second year running

Penrith City Council congratulates its City Planning team on being named the winner of the Climate Change and Resilience category at the Planning Institute of Australia’s National Awards for Planning Excellence, held in Sydney last month.

Council staff accept the Climate Change and Resilience award at the Planning Institute of Australia’s National Awards for Planning ExcellenceThis award was received for the team’s Urban Heat Planning Controls Package, helping to reduce urban heat impacts from the urban environment and provide our community with a liveable, active and healthy lifestyle throughout summer.

The Climate Change and Resilience category recognises projects and initiatives that provide outstanding leadership and/or innovation that makes a positive impact on addressing climate change and can be held up as a case study of best practice for the planning profession. 

This win follows on from Council being awarded the PIA’s NSW Award for Planning Excellence 2022 for the project under the same category.
