The 35,000 sqm parcel sorting and distribution warehouse was driven by increased e-commerce demand. When completed in full-form the automated conveyor and sortation system will enable up to 450,000 parcels to be processed daily.

Situated 12 kilometres from the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, the facility will provide increased accessibility to consumers, with 80% of the Australian population within a 12-hour delivery window from the centre. With increased online shopping demand, faster delivery times and population growth in Sydney's western corridor, the sorting centre provides a vital asset to the Penrith area.

Generating 800 jobs during construction and 500 operational jobs once complete, the new sorting centre will provide vital employment opportunities for workers in the Penrith area, allowing them to work closer to home.

The parcel automation system will significantly reduce manual handling inside the centre, help meet delivery targets and assist with safer operations. With a sustainable supply chain in mind, 80% of the materials used in construction were sourced in Australia.

Built with an emphasis on sustainable production methods, a life cycle assessment will also be completed for the sorting centre, analysing how much embodied carbon is used in the construction, enabling the carbon footprint from the build to be offset into a carbon neutral construction.
