Free Mental Health Package for local businesses launched

A mentally healthy workplace is good for employees and good for business, and local businesses and workers can now take advantage of free and easy-to-do programs that can help you support mental health in your workplace.

Employer training employeesThe NSW Government and Black Dog Institute have recently launched a range of free training and coaching programs for employers, managers, and employees, to help you improve mental health in the workplace, and understand the legal, financial, ethical and reputational benefits of a psychologically safe business.

Delivered by an expert psychologist from Black Dog Institute, these interactive, online workshops cover topics including how to design safe and healthy workplaces, how to have conversations with team members about mental health, how to spot early warning signs of mental ill-health and what to do, how to integrate mental health into all areas of your business, and most importantly where to go for more support.

Businesses have a legal obligation to ensure they create a mentally healthy environment for their workers, but it also makes good business sense. Poor workplace mental health can impact your businesses bottom line through increased staff leave, staff turnover, workers compensation claims and reduced productivity.

Benefits to business from creating a mentally healthy workplace include the ability to attract and keep good staff, reduced absenteeism, increased productivity, and a competitive advantage – make your workplace an employer of choice where there is a great culture and people want to be part of your business!

To be eligible for this free training you must be an owner, employer, or employee of a NSW business with less than 200 employees, or not-for-profit organisation of any size.
