Startups in focus at innovation round table

The startup industry was in focus this month at Council’s Penrith Innovation Ecosystem Round Table event.

The project, conducted by Penrith City Council in conjunction with Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sydney, seeks to understand, support and grow innovation in our City.

Innovation ecosystems include organisations, individuals and networks that foster the development and adoption of new business ideas. Startups have the potential for rapid growth, leading to high levels of employment. To attract and retain startups it is essential to have a supportive innovation ecosystem.

The audience heard from a range of speakers including representatives from Council, Investment NSW, Western Sydney University, Penrith Valley Chamber of Commerce, as well as founders of local startups.

Presentations from the speakers highlighted the opportunities for growth and the desire for greater collaboration between industry stakeholders.

Council will now explore the opportunities presented in the findings and look for ways to incorporate them into future strategic work.
