Medi-hotel approved in The Quarter

Penrith’s health and education precinct, The Quarter, will receive a boost to short-term accommodation options with the approval of a new medi-hotel.

According to documents supplied with the proposal, in addition to regular travellers, the hotel intends to leverage the proximity to the medical precinct and attract guests with pre and post-operative needs and their families.

“In addition, the Hotel will provide other associated supporting spaces for the ‘“Medi - Hotel’” including Wellness spaces, both indoor and outdoor to cater for patients”, the application states.

Kay Hyman, Chief Executive of Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, wrote in support of the proposal. “The services and facilities proposed by Boston Global in this location will support the Nepean health precinct and enhance the total care experience for patients, their families, friends, carers, and medical staff,” Ms Hyman said.

This development comes at a time of great activity within The Quarter. The $1 billion Nepean Hospital redevelopment is well underway, with the new 14-storey hospital tower expected to be complete in late 2021. The second stage of the project is currently in the planning and design phase.
