Gipps Street Recreation Precinct

Gipps Street Recreation Precinct, located on the corner of Gipps Street and the Great Western Highway, Claremont Meadows, will be a landmark 32-hectare sport and recreation precinct. It is due to open in mid-2024.

This $44.5 million project is funded by Council and the NSW Government through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program ($8.23 million), Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund ($5 million), Greater Cities Sport Facility Fund ($1 million), and the Open Spaces Program ($500,000).

Facility Details

There will be a range of high quality, floodlit sports infrastructure available including:

  • four full size rectangular fields and one junior size field suitable for a variety of rectangular field sports.
  • two full size cricket / AFL ovals with synthetic wickets.
  • two netball courts.
  • four lane district-level cricket practice facilities.
  • amenities building equipped with a canteen, multi-purpose area, four large or eight small change rooms, change room for officials, storage space and accessible toilet facilities.
  • car parking including designated coach drop off areas.

The precinct will also feature children’s play areas including water play, a dog park, youth precinct with floodlit skate park and pump track, walking trails, outdoor fitness equipment, and picnic areas.

There will be approximately 518 car parking spaces across the precinct including 36 accessible parking spaces.

2024 – 2025 Expressions of Interest

Council conducts an annual Expressions of Interest (EOI) process for seasonal bookings. 

The EOI process for use of the Gipps Street Recreation Precinct sports fields for 2024-2025 Summer Season and the 2025 Winter Season opened on Monday 11 March 2024 and closed at 5pm on Monday 15 April 2024.

Any weather-related closures are at the discretion of the hirer.

Hirers are responsible for conducting a risk assessment to determine the suitability of sports grounds for training, competition, player safety and potential ground damage.

Hirers should consider the weather forecast, any relevant State Sporting Organisation (SSO) weather policies and the field condition when inspected.

If the hirer chooses not to proceed with a booking, they must communicate this to Council and all participants including spectators.

Yes. There is car parking available throughout the precinct.
