Habitat Restoration Event Series

Habitat Restoration Event Series

The Habitat Restoration event series focuses on eight bushland reserves within the Penrith Local Government Area (LGA) which contains one or more threatened flora species. We invite community members and volunteers to plant trees and remove weeds to help restore habitat in these areas.

We have held over 65 events across these eight bushland areas from 2019 to 2023 (and counting). The events incorporate both an educational and interactive aspect and an on-ground activity. Our events included Breakfast with the Birds where participants went bird-watching at the reserve; Walk and Weed where participants went on a guided walk and talk before removing invasive weeds; nocturnal safaris where participants explore the bushland at night to spottsome of our night animals; school workshops for teenagers; and planting events.

We've been joined by over 500 volunteers who planted 800 plants, weeded approximately 11,662 square metres of bushland, and completed more than 1,777 volunteer hours!
