Fish Habitat Restoration at Emu Green Reserve - POSTPONED
Volunteer to help with our fish habitat restoration project along the banks of the Nepean River!
As of 28 June 2021: Due to the changes in COVID-19 restrictions, Penrith Council’s Bushcare Program has been postponed. We apologise for the inconvenience. Rescheduled dates for the events will be announced once the stay at home order has been lifted. Please keep an eye on Council’s Facebook for updates.
We’ve been stockpiling logs and root balls at Emu Green Reserve as part of a fish habitat restoration project, and are implementing these into the banks of the Nepean River to assist in the restoration of native fish habitat and to increase refuge and resources for fish.
You’ll be planting trees to complement the fish habitat structures, removing weeds from the vicinity, and assisting with the general rehabilitation of the riverbank post-construction to help enhance fish habitat and general biodiversity, and encourage population expansion.
We advise that you wear sturdy shoes and bring a hat, water and sunscreen. Light refreshments will be provided.
As per COVID-19 restriction requirements, participants will be required to wear a face mask at the event. If you do not have a face mask, masks will be provided. Participants will also be provided COVID-safe equipment.
The event is free, but registrations are essential. Register at Eventbrite
The event days include:
- Saturday 3 July (planting day)
- Saturday 7 August
- Saturday 4 September
- Saturday 2 October
- Saturday 6 November
- Saturday 4 December
