The triathlon is an iconic race that has, for the first time, moved away from Sydney Harbour and come to the International Regatta Centre at Penrith.
Teams will race at the former Olympic venue, raising money for beyondblue and boosting awareness around the link between mental health, exercise and healthy working relationships.
Penrith Mayor Cr John Thain said the race was an exciting addition to the Penrith calendar and was sure to be action-packed and an excellent community event.
"It's a once in a life time opportunity to compete at a world-class venue, especially one that was purpose-built for the Olympics," Cr Thain said.
"This is a national event and quite a coup for Penrith, and it would be terrific to see a strong Penrith contingent involved, doing our City proud.
"Council has entered teams in the race and I've been told they're looking forward to the competition.
"And if you're not able to compete, then we hope to see you on the sidelines cheering on Council, and all the teams," he said.
The post-race celebrations will also be a highlight of the day and the community is also invited to come along and enjoy the race.
