2006/2007 Data

Why use this indicator?

Timely and effective consultation with relevant stakeholders can help lessen impacts on workers and related communities from operational changes. It can help provide positive working environments, reduce turnover and minimise operational disruptions.

This indicator, by measuring minimum notice periods, demonstrates Council’s ability to maintain employee satisfaction and motivation while implementing significant changes to operations.

What is the current situation?

Although minimum notice periods regarding operational changes are not specified in Council agreements or other industrial agreements, Council does have in place comprehensive consultation processes to manage change. This includes the support for a Joint Consultative Committee which extends beyond setting minimum notice periods.

Council's consultation processes have not changed.

Council has policy and procedures regarding consultation processes. These are reviewed and updated as required.

What is the desired trend?

An increase in the effectiveness of consultation processes in place to manage change.

What does this mean for the Sustainability of Penrith Council?

By keeping staff informed and aware of operational changes, a feeling of trust and unity amongst staff can be established.
