Why use this indicator?Maintaining and improving staff knowledge through training is a key element in organisational development. This Indicator reflects Council’s investment in training, and the relative level of investment, across the different workforce areas. What is the current situation?We do not store information regarding hours spent at training however during the reporting period 243 course sessions were held on-site with 2966 employee attendances. 330 employees attended externally run courses. Council provides a range of training opportunities, including mandatory courses and optional professional training. What is the desired trend?An increase in the level of staff knowledge through attendance at training programs. What does this mean for the Sustainability of Penrith Council?Providing staff with opportunities for training and development expands an individual’s skill and knowledge and can also improve staff morale and commitment to the organisation.
