Why use this indicator?The number of employees trained and the amount of training received provides an indication of an organisation’s knowledge and commitment to human rights. This indicator reflects Council’s ability to implement its human rights policies and procedures. This international standard is relevant to Council through its role as an employer and provider of services. Human Rights focus on how the organisation maintains and respects the basic rights of a human being. For Council, this is reflected in policies such as, Equal Employment Opportunity, Harassment, Occupational Health and Safety, and Child Protection. What is the current situation?325 staff attended 24 training sessions containing aspects of human rights. Council does not record attendance in terms of hours. Records are kept on the number of training sessions and number of staff attendances. Details on human rights related training conducted during the review period is as follows. What is the desired trend?All staff are provided with human rights training. What does this mean for the Sustainability of Penrith Council?Protection of human rights is an issue Council takes seriously for both its employees and the broader community impacted by Council operations.
