2006/2007 Data

Why use this indicator?

Increased reuse and recycling can result in reduced water consumption and treatment and disposal costs.

This indicator will measure the rate of water reuse and recycling, which demonstrates Council’s efficiency in water usage, and can also illustrate Council’s success in reducing total water withdrawals and discharges.

What is the current situation?

Council is not yet reporting on this Indicator.

What is the desired trend?

An increase in data analysis and collection and an increase in the volume of water recycled and reused.

What does this mean for the Sustainability of Penrith Council?

Improvements in efficiency of water usage through increased recycling and reuse will minimise the need to source clean freshwater. This will reduce impacts on existing freshwater resources.
