Indicator EC2:

2006/2007 Data

Why use this indicator?

There is increasing regulation on activities that contribute to climate change. Organisations that are responsible for emissions face regulatory risk through increased costs or other factors impacting competitiveness. Limits on greenhouse gas emissions can also create opportunities for organisations as new technologies and markets are created. This indicator will demonstrate Council’s recognition of the potential impacts of climate change on its operations.

What is the current situation?

Inadequate data has been collated as yet for this indicator.

What is the desired trend?

An increased awareness of the risks and opportunities to Council’s operations resulting from climate change and a decrease in Council’s contribution to climate change.

What does this mean for the Sustainability of Penrith Council?

Council is continually seeking ways to reduce its emissions and the subsequent impact on climate change. Council recognises it has a significant role to play in reducing emissions, not only through the actual reductions achieved but also in acting as a role model for other organisations.
