1. Databases: [access only available within Library]

Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre (EBSCO) -  Available only via Penrith City Library's REFNET and FREENET PC networks under the heading 'Magazines' within the library at its Penrith, St. Marys and St. Clair branches.

Australia / New Zealand Reference Centre (ANZRC) is the most comprehensive full text reference database designed specifically for Australian and New Zealand libraries. ANZRC features more Australian and New Zealand publishing content in full text than any other electronic resource available today.

  • More than 400 full text sources
  • Australian, New Zealand and International newspapers in full text
  • Cumulative coverage (no resources are cycled off the database)
  • Australian reference works in full text including The Encyclopedia of Australia and History of Australian Sport
  • 50,000 full text biographies
  • Company directory featuring 50,000 Australian and 10,000 New Zealand companies
  • Image Collection of 11,000 images and over 1,000 maps
  • Superior search interface – ability to limit search by publication type
  • Unlimited user access (with remote access for library patrons)
  • Competitive, fixed pricing
  • Comprehensive technical support

ANZRC includes full text coverage for The Australian, The Herald Sun, The New Zealand Herald, The Daily Telegraph, The Courier Mail and other capital city dailies.

Magazine titles include; Asian Business Review, Australian Geographer, Australian Literary Studies, Australian Journal of Social Issues, Family Matters, Hecate, History Today, Meanjin, Nature Australia, Sports Illustrated, NZ Business, Harper’s Bazaar, Macleans, National Geographic, Newsweek, Popular Mechanics, Psychology Today, Rolling Stone and Scientific American and many more, with further significant additions planned for the ANZRC in 2002.

Please note: Microsoft Explorer seems to be the best browser for using A/NZ Ref. Centre. Using Netscape, we found that the database doesn't load completely - for example, no online help was available. Please e-mail us with any further comments or experiences regarding this useful database to pcclib@penrithcity.nsw.gov.au .
