2010 Family History Fair

Sunday 7 March 2010 at Penrith City Library, 601 High Street Penrith

10 am - 4 pm

The Nepean Family History Society held their very successful Family History Fair in the Lower Lounge area of Penrith City Library. Over 500 people attended the Fair last year, coming from across the State.

The day featured:

  • Many trade tables in genealogy and local and family history.
    • Trade tables include: Local and family history societes  - Blue Mountains, Camden, Central Coast, Hawkesbury, Liverpool, Mays Hill, Newcastle, Parramatta, Penrith, Port Stephens, Ryerson Indexing Group, Shoalhaven, Society of Australian Genealogists (Sydney).
    • Family history business groups - Jeremy Palmer (professional genealogist); Teapot genies (indexers); Barbara Hall and Elizabeth Hook (historians); Library of Australian History (bookshop); Keepsake genealogy (genealogy charts), Lois Sabine (historian)
  • Help with starting your family history
  • Opportunity to listen and speak to experts in the field
  • Short talks throughout the day: Jeremy Palmer (Englsh research); tours of Penrith Library's Research Room with information on research resources; State Records
  • Opportunity to access the great resources of ancestry.com.au and one lucky attendee will win a year’s subscription to the World Heritage Package valued at $449.95.   
  • Great raffles and a great variety of family history resources, including a subscription to Ancestry and Family Tree Maker software.
  • Opportunity to talk family history with members of the NFHS, staff from Penrith City Library and local and regional historical groups
